Generation Information Systems are looking for a expert Cloud Economist to join the team, someone with inspiring leadership skills that can nurture the trust and confidence in others.


We're looking for an accomplished expert in cloud economics; principles, costs and benefits to provide advice and guidance on projects and programmes, building robust Business Cases to identify risks and opportunities as well as the Medium-Term Planning (MTP) process.


You'll fast become our Subject Matter Expert, and the point of contact within the Generation Business for all things Cloud Economics, whilst endorsing collaboration with all stakeholders.

Pay, Benefits and Culture


The salary range for this role is £50,672 to £67,175 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement.

The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences and qualification.

What you'll be doing


As our Cloud Economist you'll track and monitor actual costs of all Cloud costs that should be recharged to Nuclear Generation from Enterprise IT (EIT).

You'll also ensure implementation of new Cloud costs are adopted into Nuclear Generation once the Cloud service has been implemented.

You'll determine and create our Cloud Dashboard/MI using existing EDF toolsets products but don't worry, you'll receive training on our tools prior to use


Routine reviews of the Cloud Services will be implemented by yourself in the recharging processes between EIT and Generation to ensure any outliers are investigated and where necessary remedied.


You'll, as the SME provide direction and leadership on Cloud economics by supporting the development of our Business Cases, proposing plans to ensure our CAPEX investment cases are robust and fruitful.

You'll also support the EIT Strategy to purchase Reservations to reduce overall invoice costs to EDF.

Management of Apptio Cloud tool is crucial in optimising and supporting continuous improvement across Generation.

As the Cloud Economist you'll manage Apptio on behalf of Generation, liaising with EIT Finops and TBM Commercial team to ensure effective and consistent use of the tool.


Who you are


As an expert in Cloud Economics, you'll hold the PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent and be working towards or completed your FinOps Certification.

You'll bring a wealth of experience in Cloud-based activities, SAP/Apptio knowledge, Enterprise Architecture and Service Management frameworks as well as a good understanding of IT Portfolio, Programme and Project Management methodologies including Agile.


You'll be an expert in project quality management, and have excellent planning, monitoring and controlling programme techniques as well as knowledge of asset management processes within Generation and of commercial asset management software packages.
