Fixed Term Contract until December 2023

Basic Requirements:


  • Experience of working within the field of In Vivo research
  • BTEC, IAT and significant experience within the field of In Vivo research
  • Home Office Licence Modules 13 essential (Module 4 desirable)
  • Understanding of Animal Scientific Procedures Act 198
  • Implementing of the 3R's
  • Knowledge of infection studies, including drug treatment regimens
  • Experience of writing protocols, analysing data and collating results
  • Health and Safety training (COSHH, Risk Assessment, GM)

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Working at containment level 3 will be required
  • Make independent decisions regarding experimental progress when necessary
  • Supervise other technical staff
  • Ensure animal welfare is paramount and humane
  • Predict and interpret animal's response
  • Record detailed information about each animal including weight and behavioural changes
  • Plan and organise own work with reference to others
  • Applied technical expertise, initiative, and problemsolving techniques
  • Undertake training as required and keep up to date with the safe and effective use of tools and equipment
