Open-ended Contract - Permanent: Full Time - 35 Hours per Week


We are looking for a Quality Assurance Assistant to work with the research scientists at Easter Bush Campus ensuring the quality of their work from concept research through to the published papers.


This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.

We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working


The Opportunity:

The post-holder will work within the Quality Management group where they will support laboratory
- and computer-based scientists on all matters that could impact the quality of their scientific research output. This will involve the post-holder advising researchers on current best practice to ensure that our science is rigorous, accountable, traceable and reproducible.


This role will also involve the use and maintenance of a document control management system (Q-Pulse) to manage Standard Operating Procedures and other controlled documents.

It will further involve the post-holder in auditing the maintenance and operation of systems and processes within the research environment.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • To provide support and advice to researchers on current best practice for a wide range of quality-related issues including documentation of research, sample integrity, sample management and freezer storage, management of archives, and research equipment service maintenance monitoring.
  • To perform audits on research systems and processes, advise and promote best practice and management relating to science activity dependent on those systems and processes to ensure it is rigorous, accountable, traceable and reproducible. Primarily to ensure the research standards of funders are met, but also to support those who are required to work to other regulated standards such as GLP, GMP, etc.
  • To maintain the Document Control system (Q-Pulse) used by the Quality Group to manage Standard Operating Procedures across the Easter Bush Campus
