About this role
The Disability Advisor will provide information, advice and guidance to students and prospective students with physical disabilities, enduring health conditions and autistic spectrum conditions to best support the student to achieve their student journey, enabling them to thrive during their time at the University. You will work closely with others in the team and across the University to ensure that students have the relevant support plans and specialist equipment that may be needed whilst on their course and within University accommodation. In addition, you will support students in making DSA applications and accessing DSA funded support.
About you
The appointed postholder will have a knowledge and understanding of the HE sector, the current relevant legislation and range of support that may be available to students who have physical disabilities, health conditions and autism spectrum conditions. You will be organised and empathetic, working collaboratively across the team and wider University to best meet the needs of individual students.
About the team
The Students, Support and Information Services department provides a wide range of services including a comprehensive and confidential welfare and support service for all students at the University of Chichester, ranging from practical advice to financial assistance. Support for students with disabilities and/or learning difficulties is provided by the Disability and Dyslexia service, with international support being offered by the International Student Advisory service. The Wellbeing team also offers a wider range of support services such as Student Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing triage appointments (via Student Wellbeing Advisers) and Counselling.
