Description
Hello and thank you for your interest in joining University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

Head of Security Services - University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

We are firmly committed to being the best possible provider of healthcare and place to work in the NHS and we have an opportunity to recruit to this exciting role.

Leicester's Hospitals already have so much going for them.

We have 17,000 excellent colleagues; we have regional and national reach and an operating turnover in excess of £1.3 billion.

The team here make a difference every day of the year.

We provide nationally and internationally renowned specialist treatment and services in cardio-respiratory diseases, vascular, Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), cancer and renal disorders, amongst many other services.

We have a dedicated Children's Hospital, and we work closely with partners at the University of Leicester, Loughborough University and De Montfort University.

We are home to an NIHR Biomedical Research Centre which supports key research including lifestyle, diabetes, and cardio-respiratory diseases and we have been successfully designated as an NIHR Clinical Research Facility.

We are also extremely proud of our Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre and our HOPE Unit is an instrumental factor in delivering clinical trials of new cancer treatments.

Like many trusts, we also have problems which have been exacerbated by Covid. We have more patients than ever waiting for care, our services are very busy, and many colleagues are tired. We are working under sustained pressure.

Whist I fully recognise this, there has been a lot of change at UHL in the last year and we feel optimistic and enthusiastic about our future.

The Head of Security Servicesis a key appointment we are making for estates and facilities.

This role will be a development post, with the post holder starting on a band 8a, with a development plan in place which will see them develop into an 8b band over the course of a 12 to 24 month period, pending progression once in the role.

However, this should not deter applicants who are already working at this level, providing they can demonstrate this through the interview process.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the Trust wide Security Service delivery:

including the Local Security Management Specialist (LSMS) function, Conflict Management & Disengagement Training programmes, Operational Security, CCTV Operation and Maintenance, Residential Security, and Counter terrorism.

We are one of the biggest and busiest NHS trusts in the country, incorporating the General, Glenfield and Royal Infirmary hospitals.

We have our very own Children's Hospital and run one of the country's leading heart centres.

Our team is made up of more than 17,000 staff providing a range of services primarily for the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We work with partners at the University of Leicester and De Montfort University providing world-class teaching to nurture and develop the next generation of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, many of whom go on to spend their working lives with us.

Our purpose is to provide 'Caring at its best' and our staff have helped us create a set of values that embody who we are and what we're here to do

They are:

  • We focus on what matters most
  • We treat others how we would like to be treated
  • We are passionate and creative in our work
  • We do what we say we are going to do
  • We are one team and we are best when we work together

Our patients are at the heart of all we do and we believe that 'Caring at its best' is not just about the treatments and services we provide, but about giving our patients the best possible experience.
