- High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive. Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues in a way that addresses psychological resistance. An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems and or other disabilities. An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context.
- A positive approach to working with children, adolescents and families. Ability to work as part of a team and independently. Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings. Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour. Ability to travel between bases and within the community as required for the post.

Job summary
You will be a member of the CAMHS Co-Production and Engagement Team, work to support young people's voices to be heard to improve services.
Advocate the views and interest of clients, when requested, while accessing other local community and statutory services.

Main duties of the job
The Coproduction/engagement support worker will be responsible for supporting and supervising youth board meetings, delegating tasks associated with service delivery.
Through sharing the wisdom from your own lived experience, inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. Within a relationship of mutuality, facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self-determination, and opportunities to connect with their local communities.
The Peer support will work with the Coproduction/Engagement Team in line with service needs and will take a lead role in embedding coproduction practice within the service setting.
The Peer support will take a lead role in embedding recovery values and the principles within the service setting in which they work, alongside Trust colleagues, and act as an ambassador of Recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations.
There is an expectation that the Peer support will complete a Trust Peer Induction within 3 months of commencing their role, as well as a 'Wellness at Work' plan.
The Peer is expected to be actively involved in the ongoing development of peer work across the Trust including linking with the Service User Experience & Engagement Team (SUEET) to attend Peer-specific group supervisions, as well as training and development opportunities.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communication
Patient/Customer Care
To establish a supportive and respectful relationship with clients.
Work with clients to help them identify their own meaningful recovery and personal goals drawing on your mutual resources as peers and utilising a range of recovery tools, techniques and experience.
Encourage and motivate service users to create co-produced care plans and enable clients to engage with the actions of their care plan.
Accompany service users, if appropriate, to appointments/meetings where they need additional support.
Role model recovery, self-advocacy, self-awareness and personal responsibility to inspire hope and confidence in clients using your experience of recovery.
Share/teach coping self-help, self-management techniques and tools.
Work in a strength-based way that acknowledges the personal, social, cultural and spiritual strengths.
Facilitate and co-deliver psychoeducation and other recovery courses where possible
Facilitate and co-deliver recovery and peer groups where possible.
Work closely with carers/family members to enable clients to continue their recovery journey in the community and in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
Connect clients to community groups and networks that enable them to participate in community activities and progress in their recovery journey.
Support service users in discharging planning and building connections and resources in the community.
Ensure notes are written accordingly into Barnet Enfield, and Haringeys RIO, within the policy of the Trust.
Peer Workforce Development
Promote the EBYE role, through the provision of information and a range of learning opportunities for the multi-disciplinary team and others across the Trust.
Promote embedding recovery values within the service and act as an ambassador of the Enablement principles with external agencies and partner organisations.
Engage in co-production activities or projects and support clients to engage in co-production within service development.
Promote recovery best practice and role model jargon and medical free language across the Trust.
Contribute to the on-going development of the Peer workforce.
Service Evaluation
To implement and support a culture of service evaluation across the NCL
To engage with service users in the service evaluation
To apply core IAPT principles to the use of outcome measures
Training & Development:
To participate in regular supervision with your Line Manager in accordance with good practice guidelines and Trust policy.
To participate in the Trusts annual Appraisal process.
To attend all relevant mandatory training as and when required to do so.
There is an expectation that the Peer will complete a Trust Peer Induction within 3 months of commencing their role, as well as a Wellness at Work plan.
