SUNSHINE is a brand new grassroots community charity dedicated to bringing people together, spreading joy and fostering community spirit through a range of community-based activities, events and projects that nurture connections and transform lives. We believe that everyone deserves to feel valued, included and happy. We especially aim to target those facing social isolation who will need access to our charity most.


We're looking for a dedicated, committed, enthusiastic and reliable volunteer to join us in the role of Trustee who can support our brand new charity, especially in its start-up phase, helping to shape our vision, strategy and governance.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a passionate team working to make a real impact in our community.


As a Trustee, you will work with the board and have the opportunity to collectively:

  • Help set strategic goals and objectives for SUNSHINE, including a charity wide strategy, KPI's and business plan.
  • Ensure the charity is compliant with legal and regulatory requirements and in line with its governing document and Charity Commission.
  • Monitor the charity's financial health, and play a key role in securing funding and generating income, resources and support to allow SUNSHINE to carry out its work in the community.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Act as an ambassador for SUNSHINE, promoting its mission and values.
  • Attend regular quarterly board meetings, an annual AGM and an annual charity development day and actively participate in board meetings, providing input and making informed decisions.


As a Trustee of a start-up charity you may need to be a bit more hands on in supporting SUNSHINE to get set up and running and we require a minimum of 4 hours per month to support us in our journey.


Our first three trustee meetings will be taking place close together as we initially have a lot of paperwork and set up to complete.

After the initial first meeting, the second meeting will take place two weeks later, followed by the third meeting a month later.

Trustee Meetings will then be held quarterly, taking place one evening between 7pm and 9pm.

  • Previous experience serving on a Board of Trustees or similar governing body is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies is desired.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with donors, stakeholders, and community members.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to longterm planning.
  • Ability to use your contacts and networks to propel SUNSHINE to success.
