Description
We are looking for a dynamic Advanced Band 7 Podiatrist with a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience.
Specialist in Diabetic Wound Care to work within our Community Service Foot Protection Team, and on a rotational basis between Bassetlaw Hospital and Kings Mill Hospitals Diabetic MDT Foot Clinics.
As a member of the Nottingham Community Podiatry Team your main duties will include -Intervention of people with diabetes with a high need for treatment and management of their foot conditions.
To provide a 'step up' service from community/primary care for rapid assessment and treatment of people with diabetes related foot problems.
To provide a 'step down' service for people currently under the care of the Multi-disciplinary (MDT) Diabetes Foot Clinics.
To rotate into Bassetlaw Hospital and Kings Mill Diabetic Foot MDT clinics.To develop, implement and provide education and competency-based training in diabetes foot screening, risk stratification, awareness of foot problems in people with diabetes, and appropriate referrals/actions to health professionals across Nottinghamshire.
To work collaboratively with colleagues and other health professionals both internally and externally to the podiatry team to develop and enhance services to meet the changing needs of the population and the national and local picture.
Applicants must be HCPC registered and hold a degree or Diploma in Podiatric Medicine and a certificate for Local anaesthesia.
The ability to meet the travel requirements of the role is required for this post however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

We are looking for a committed and compassionate individual with extensive clinical high-risk knowledge, and leadership experience to work in Foot Protection Team and hospital based MDTs within Nottinghamshire.
Working collaboratively with the Team Lead and Podiatry Service Manager, you will be required to cohesively support and direct a team of podiatrists to manage both diabetic, high-risk patient caseload.
You will be required to manage your own clinical caseload and play a pivotal part in the continued development of the Community Podiatry Service and support/guide staff within the team.
To work independently in both community and acute settings, providing a high quality of clinical care focused on the needs of diabetic patients.
Take clinical responsibility for the work undertaken by the clinical staff working in podiatry and in the delegation of clinical and domiciliary caseloads.
To monitor and audit activity, as appropriate, to adjust service as required, working with the Team Lead and Podiatry Service Manager to create a learning culture, to inform and develop the service as a result.
To be able to work autonomously and to be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, care planning, management and evaluation of podiatric interventions, and know when to refer on appropriately.
To be actively involved in the provision of foot health education and advice to staff, patients, relatives and carers and to participate in foot health training where appropriate.
To follow departmental and trust policies and procedures and guidelines, but also have the discretion to make own clinical diagnosis and decisions within professional guidelines.
POM-A Local Anaesthesia Certificate
Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Post graduate qualification in diabetes and the foot
Evidence of Continued Professional Development
Post graduate qualification e.g., Appropriate post-graduate experience of working in podiatry providing diabetes and high-risk related foot assessment and management and complex wound care
Post-graduate experience of working within an acute multi-disciplinary diabetes team
Experience of audit and report writing
Significant post-graduate NHS experience
Change management experience
Previous experience of leading a team and service planning
Able to be constructively critical with experience of research/project work
Advanced knowledge in the podiatric care of following areas: diabetes, wound care, vascular
Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of podiatry relevant to role
Advanced knowledge of Podiatric dermatology and biomechanics
Able to communicate potentially highly sensitive information to at risk patients where there may be communication barriers using negotiating and counselling skills
Advanced clinical skills to support the assessment of complex foot pathology
Computer literate in MS Office applications
Networking skills
A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
