Job overview:


The Family Support Team is part of the All Age Disabilities service and we work with Children aged 0 to 18 who have complex disabilities and their families.


We are a team of 12 family support workers, managed by a Family Support Team manager, working alongside our Social work team.


We firmly believe that all young people regardless of their disability have the right to be part of their community, have fun and reach their full potential.


Our aim is to enable are young people to reach their full potential, supporting them in all aspects of their lives with are main aim to enable the young people to remain living at home.

Are you a Clinical Support Worker (CSW), currently work for a local authority or a charity/private provider working with children or adults with disabilities and ASC, who would like to transfer your knowledge, skills and experience.

The part time posts are 20 hours a week over 5 days to be negotiated with your line manager.


Main duties of the job:


These roles involve working directly with children and young people who have complex disabilities such as Autism and Severe Learning Disabilities and who at times present with challenging behaviours.

You will support and enable these young people to access community-based activities, work alongside their families within the family home providing advice and support in all areas of family life.

Provide specialist support in relation to the child's disability. Work closely with all professionals involved with the family including the Social Worker, Health professionals and Education.

You will be expected to attend all meetings in relation to the young people you support, write reports to support the Social Worker assessments, including contributing to parenting assessments.


At times our young people do present with challenging behaviours, full training is provided to support you with this side of the role.

Having a good and proven understanding of behaviour and working in a person-centred way is essential.

You will spend time in the community enabling the young person to access activities which they enjoy.


You will be working alongside families to support in all aspects of parenting a child with a disability, working alongside all other professionals involved with that family.
