Following Identity's success in the UK and Europe, the agency is expanding into the UAE with offices in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.


We have been fortunate to win a number of high profile contracts with both UAE corporate clients and public sector organisations, with further contracts to follow across the region.

Identity UAE has ambitious plans for the next year which includes:

  • Forming a strong in country team of capable and experienced events professionals.
  • Offering fully integrated delivery between UK (and other offices) & UAE with plans for further expansion to KSA
We are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead the set up of the UAE Operation.


Position Overview:


The General Manager is responsible for directing, growing and managing our business operations in the UAE and to develop and implement effective business strategies.

The General Manager will be required to work closely with the UK management team, collaboratingto develop and deliver a strong and sustainable vision for our UAE operation.

The General Manager should have extensive experience in the live events/exhibition industry, including within the UAE and should have previously held senior leadership positionswithin the event industry.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


Business Set Up:

Identity has established a UAE Executive Leadership Team to drive forward the Identity UAE operations.

This team is based in the UK and the UAE based General Manager will be required to work closely with this Executive Team to develop and implement thefoundations of Identity's UAE operations (Abu Dhabi & Dubai) and to deliver sustained growth.


This will include:

  • Establishing an operations infrastructure;
  • Recruiting / establishing a team with clear roles and responsibilities; and
  • Establishing short, medium and long term strategic plans.
  • Supporting on the development of a robust business plan

Commercial:


To develop and implement commercial strategies focused on establishing a profitable business model in the UAE, capitalising on live opportunities and existing relationships.


This will include:

  • Proactively identifying growth opportunities and managing a sales pipeline;
  • Networking at a high level with potential and current clients;
  • Supporting on the development of tender winning responses and presentations;
  • Setting clear financial targets and monitoring the progress of commercial activities;
  • Overseeing the overall profitability of individual projects (within preagreed margins).

Financial:

Manage, track and report expenditures, financial goals and budgets working closely with the Finance Director.


Operational:


  • Ensure that effective operations processes and policies are in place which comply with statutory requirements and are fit for purpose.
Regular review of processes and policies to ensure these remain compliant with all regulations;

  • Plan, monitor, and analyse key metrics for the daytoday performance of the operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks;
  • Oversee the creation of contracts, SOWs, project estimates and milestones for all opportunities and live projects and to ensure that team members deliver against them;
  • Build and maintain relationships with all department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals;
  • Oversee the requirements of the existing portfolio to ensure their needs are being met and expectations exceeded.

Team Management / Wider Team Interaction

  • Building and maintaining an effective management team;
  • Managing resource requirements;
  • Interfacing with a UK based management team and working in accordance with overarching company governance.

Skills and Experience:


Essential:


  • Fluent in English written and verbal
  • Strong communication skills and excellent knowledge of business functions in the UAE.
  • Experience of setting up companies from scratch along with a good understanding of working with International organisations with a presence in the UAE.
  • Experience in a leadership role in producing and delivering services in a timebound environment.
