A DBS may be required for this role.


An Environmental Health Officer is required to provide a high-quality Regulatory Service in Environmental Health to Business and Residents in the local area.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To carry out inspections, reinspections and surveys and to be responsible for the investigation, enforcement and manage a caseload.
  • To prepare and serve Statutory Notices and take enforcement action in line with the Council's strategy and departmental enforcement policies.
  • To report and/or advise where statutory action is not appropriate and to initiate prosecutions for failure to comply with statutory instruments where appropriate.
  • To consult/negotiate with developers, landlords, contractors, business and other clients as appropriate, to ensure progress of casework.
  • To carry out site visits, surveys, inspections and to attend Public Inquiries, courts of law, and tribunals.

Qualifications:


  • BSc or Diploma in Environmental Health and be EHORB registered as an EHO

Skills & experience:


  • Experience in taking enforcement action for failure to comply with requirements of appropriate legislation and statutory notices.
  • Ability to manage a caseload
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Good customer service skills
  • Knowledge Of Using Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Previous experience in similar role
  • The ability to keep accurate records for official use
  • Good observational and investigation skills
  • Ability to carry out inspections
  • Flexible and able to work at times outside normal core working hours.
