A DBS may be required for this role.

An Environmental Health Officer is required to provide a high-quality Regulatory Service in Environmental Health to Business and Residents in the local area.

Key Responsibilities:

To carry out inspections, reinspections and surveys and to be responsible for the investigation, enforcement and manage a caseload.
To prepare and serve Statutory Notices and take enforcement action in line with the Council's strategy and departmental enforcement policies.
To report and/or advise where statutory action is not appropriate and to initiate prosecutions for failure to comply with statutory instruments where appropriate.
To consult/negotiate with developers, landlords, contractors, business and other clients as appropriate, to ensure progress of casework.
To carry out site visits, surveys, inspections and to attend Public Inquiries, courts of law, and tribunals.

Qualifications:

BSc or Diploma in Environmental Health and be EHORB registered as an EHO

Skills & experience:

Experience in taking enforcement action for failure to comply with requirements of appropriate legislation and statutory notices.
Ability to manage a caseload
Ability to meet deadlines
Good customer service skills
Knowledge Of Using Microsoft Excel & Word
Previous experience in similar role
The ability to keep accurate records for official use
Good observational and investigation skills
Ability to carry out inspections
Flexible and able to work at times outside normal core working hours.
