Description

Our Customer Service Assistant role involves placing bets on behalf of Racing Guests and in turn paying out winning ticket/s.

This requires the use of a touchscreen terminal to navigate around the different racecourses and races, as customers can bet at any course with a live race day.

As an Operator you will have the opportunity to work in a static Cashier role (till) in one of the public areas i.e.

Restaurant/Bar/Trackside or as a Courier with a hand held terminal (Tablet) in a Hospitality Lounge/Box area.

You will be assigned to York Racecourse and have first choice of their Race day fixtures. You may also be offered shifts at other local racecourses.

Please note for all work booked outside of your home course (York), travel pay will be given to subsidise time spent travelling as well as transport expenses.

For larger fixtures and Festivals such as; Cheltenham Festival and Aintree Grand National, overnight accommodation will be provided.


Role duties;

  • To use the betting terminals to take bets from customers (training provided on the system)
  • Pay out guests who supply winning ticket/s
  • Provide excellent customer service to racegoers
  • Handle cash and cash up at the end of each race day
  • Explain effectively, different bet types to customers (training provided)

Skills / Attributes;

  • Good customer service experience
  • Good mental arithmetic
  • No prior knowledge of racing or betting needed
  • Ability to deal with cash efficiently and total up at the end of each race day
  • Confident relaying information to guests around bets and races after training
  • Enthusiastic

York Racecourse 2023 Fixtures;
May - 17th, 18th, 19th, 27th

June - 16th, 17th

July - 14th, 15th, 28th, 29th

August - 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th - _
York Ebor Festival_

September - 10th, 23rd

October - 13th, 14th


Job Types:
Part-time, Zero hours contract


Salary:
£11.00-£13.60 per hour
