A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced cleaner/handyman at The Engine Works - an exclusive use weddings & events venue in the heart of the city, located in Glasgow's West End.

We seek individuals who, in addition to having a passion for events, enjoy working in a team and have a "can-do" attitude.

We are in search of energetic, self-motivated, highly organised individuals to join our Night Time Clean Team. Our evening team plays an integral role, and one of the most important members of the team.

You will be responsible for promptly cleaning and resetting the venue after each event, ensuring its pristine condition for the wedding/event the following day.

Additionally, your role will involve conducting deep cleaning sessions and providing assistance to the next clients during their set-up process.

While the position demands hard work, it is immensely rewarding, and you'll play a crucial part in creating memorable experiences for our clients.

You will be required to work a minimum of 35 hours per week which will include evenings and weekends (7 days per week).


Events and Venue Preparation:


  • As our Night Time Clean Team your role is invaluable as you must 'reset' the venue after each event.
  • This would involve coordinating room and furnishing requirements for events (including those outside of normal venue hours).
  • Deep cleaning floors, doors, toilets and venue as a whole.
  • Assisting clients with deliveries, and coordinating uplifts with third party suppliers.
- _*Offer a flexible work pattern and assist with 'resetting' the venue after each event._


Cleaning and Grounds Maintenance

  • To undertake any necessary cleaning and grounds maintenance, including 'high level' cleaning where required.
  • To follow correct procedures for use of chemical cleaning and products, detergents, and power equipment.
  • To clean spills and other fluids as required.
  • To ensure that all outside areas of the venue grounds are maintained and kept in a clean and tidy condition and to partake of daily litter picking and rubbish removal.
  • To remove snow and ice from venue grounds, gritting when required.

Key Holder Responsibilities:


  • Once trained, and trust earned you will be responsible for opening the venue at the start of the working day.
  • At the beginning of the day, you will be expected to inspect the property, deactivate the intruder alarm & security systems, and switch on the lights, taking into consideration the temperature for the day ahead.

Responsible for resetting the venue before and after each event, the position is one of responsibility and trust. Requiring a person of high calibre, practical skill, and efficiency.

The duties include the evening management of the venue, resetting the venue, maintaining the building, grounds and ensuring prompt action is taken to rectify any issues.

  • Applicants must be physically fit and able to undertake the range of duties outlined in the job description and duties.
  • Practical skill set.
  • Ability to plan and organise your own workload.
  • Security/keyholding experience.
  • Specialist cleaning experience
  • Has an ability to work alone or as part of a team.
