Job summary:

The Legal Services team provides legal and professional advice on all aspects arising from Ofsted's work.

We work in supportive, specialist teams that handle a broad range of different areas of law including public law, judicial review, children's social care law, education law and litigation relevant to Ofsted.


As a Legal Services Support Officer you will provide high quality support to the Legal Services Team compromising of dedicated paralegal support to the in-house and the lawyers as required.


Job description:

The key responsibilities of the role are outlined below. However, this is an overview of the role and is not exhaustive. Ofsted reserves the right to assign other duties commensurate with the
B3 APT grade as required.

  • To provide administrative support for the team, as required.
  • To liaise as necessary with legal finance and with other paralegal officers regarding invoices for payment.
  • To book meetings and travel arrangements and carry out other routine administrative tasks for the team.
  • To manage the team's correspondence
  • To undertake legal research and other research, as required.
  • To organise training for the team.
  • To assist with regulatory enforcement matters under the supervision of the regulatory enforcement lawyers as required.
  • Liaising with external parties in respect to enforcement matters.
  • Preparing bundles and other court documents.
  • Managing court and third party correspondence.
  • Filing documents with the Care Standards Tribunal ("the tribunal") or at Court and attending the tribunal or at Court, as required.
