Grafton Recruitment are now seeking to appoint a 3rd Line Support Engineer to our Public Sector client based in Rotherham.

The 3rd Line Support Engineer will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of a busy infrastructure team, you'll be supportingthe diverse infrastructure of the Group which, whilst challenging, will be a great opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of industry standard systems.

With high level access to many of the groups key systems you'll ensure that all work undertakenis done with the upmost consideration to confidentiality, security and data protection.


Duties of the3rd Line Support Engineer

  • Monitoring, maintaining and developing the Groups infrastructure and information systems.
  • Resolving service requests in a timely manner.
  • To gain a thorough understanding of the Groups key infrastructure, systems and processes.
  • To demonstrate sufficient competence to support the infrastructure in the absence of the other members of the team.
  • To take responsibility for the maintenance of one or more specific systems appropriate to your skills and competencies, as identified and agreed with your line manager.
  • Carry out duties as a First Aider as and when required.

Experience Required

  • Industry standard server, networking and SAN hardware.
  • Server virtualisation platforms, such as VMware and Hyper.
  • Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 and Windows 7/8/10.
  • MS Active Directory, Group Policy.
  • LAN & WAN TCP/IP networking, VLANs, DNS and DHCP.
  • Wireless networking.
  • Backup and recovery hardware and software.
  • Automated Systems Monitoring (i.e. SCOM, Solarwinds, PRTG).
  • Automated deployment of software in an MS Environment.
  • Virtual Desktop and Remote Access technologies.
  • Web server technologies such as MySQL, Apache, NGINX and PHP.
  • Scripting/programming languages (i.e. PowerShell, vbs).
  • Linux Server and CMS such as WordPress or Joomla.
  • Microsoft or Google cloud collaboration services (O365, G Suite).
  • IP CCTV and Access Control Systems.
  • Management of IP Telephony Systems.
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Appropriate vendor qualifications, i.e. MSCA, MCSE, CCNA.
  • ITIL Certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and team working.
  • Able to work in an organised and methodical manner.
  • Keen eye for detail and a rigorous, logical approach to problem solving.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
