Job Description Summary:
Responsible for leading and managing the environmental, health and safety (EHS) aspects in the Grid Automation Europe, CIS and Sub-Sahara Africa Region.
This include projects and services activities at customer sites, electrical labs, electrician panel integration facilities and offices.Role & Responsibilities:
- Report organizationally within the GA Regional structure, and functionally to the GA EHS Leader.
- Ability to hire and train EHS organization to cover multi country, lead multicultural organization and team.
- Manage, coach and mentor other EHS Managers in ERCIS & SSA region. Lead the EHS team hiring process where required.
- Develop strong working relationship with operational team in his/her scope and help drive the expected EHS performance and culture across all operations.
- Drive implementation of GE and regulatory EHS expectations within ERCIS & SSA region activities, including at customer sites, workshops, etc.
- Understand regulatory changes and trends and forecast business impacts.
- Actively lead and support the GA ERCIS & SSA Leader and his Leadership team in EHS matters, including daytoday needs and challengers, ITO, OTR, etc.
- Setup and lead EHS operating rhythm and momentum at regional level (accident calls, EHS reviews, etc.).
- Ensure all internal and external EHS reporting is completed on time and with accuracy.
- Ensure that accidents and other EHS events are properly reported and investigated with adequate action plan to prevent reoccurrence established.
- Consolidate and analyze EHS data and trends for ERCIS & SSA region. Develop and lead regional EHS action plans accordingly.
- Define a quarterly audit plan as per Grid business model and ensure its completion by the Region EHS team. Oversee at regional level and drive closure of identified issues.
- Provide and coordinate required EHS trainings within the region.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, environmental science, safety management or other EHSrelated technical discipline from an accredited college/university is required.
- Demonstrated experience in EHS program development, implementation
- Leadership experience within the energy sector or similar industrial sector.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong knowledge of, and experience with, fundamental health & safety programs including but not limited to Activities at customer sites, Lockout-TagoutTry, Electrical Safety, Offshore, etc.
- Experience with and knowledge of independent standards organizations and certification programs such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.
- Professional certification/credentials in the areas of safety management, environmental management, industrial hygiene or engineering that are issued by a recognized professional organization are preferred
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to influence and motivate leaders and employees through collaborative engagement and building/maintaining relationships.
- High energy, motivation and commitment to take personal ownership of issues and drive them to exceptional outcomes.
- Fluency in the English language is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate information to a broad range of people and audiences as circumstances dictate.
- Ability to successfully manage and develop personnel in remote locations and work in a team environment across a multisite organization with a variety of cultures.
