An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team.


The aim of the role is to provide proactive financial leadership of the highest possible standard to the relevant Directorates, advising on all aspects of financial management and driving forward business development opportunities.


The post holder will be required to provide advice to senior managers on complex accountancy for a number of clinical departments.

This will involve integrating with the senior management teams of the various divisions, assisting in the production of divisions' annual financial plans, devising cost improvement programmes, monitoring against the plans in year, producing financial forecasts and recovery plans as required.


The post holder will also have a senior role in the financial performance management of the divisions and be expected to challenge, influence and advise on the activity of the division in order to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and value for money of the Trust's departments.


To post holder will be responsible for the work of the Deputy Finance Manager, and will be responsible for staff performance management and recruitment for all direct report staff.

The post holder will be responsible for their own and their team's professional development.

Production of the division's monthly financial position within monthly timetables.

Reporting of Income

Production of Cost Improvement Plans (CIPs)

Assist the financial planning, resource and budget setting process.

Support with the production of business cases

Lead training sessions for finance and non-finance staff on financial issues, including e-learning and the Trust finance training courses

Directly manage and develop staff including work planning, absence cover, staff appraisals/KSF and mentoring

Personally complete, and ensure direct reports complete, all mandatory training required


Responsible for all aspects of recruitment, selection and interviewing of departmental staff including preparation of advertising, interview tests and questions.

Checking with Human Resources department the progress of DBS, Occupational Health forms and references.


Work in collaboration with other Business Partners and Financial Management teams to continuously identify and improve the effectiveness of accounting systems and financial reporting.

When necessary deputise for the Head of Financial Management and the Director of Finance.
