If you are looking for a key role with direct customer contact and you have a background in engineering, then this will be of interest to you.

Job Purpose:

To be the main contact for order and sales enquiries and work with the engineering team to meet the customers' requirements.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Build a good working relationship with our existing and new global customers and provide them with information on pricing, special manufacturing, tooling, logistics and lead times.
  • Manage between quotes per month for the manufacture of complex components (helical compressor rotor screws) and tooling, working closely with production engineers and Buyer to collate information such as designs, specifications, finishes, manufacturing time scales, subcontract work and raw material costings, analysing information and producing accurate pricing.
  • Prepare and issue accurate quotes to customers and using your persuasive skills, translate these into confirmed orders.
  • Process between sales orders per month, liaising with production and engineering on technical manufacturing requirements, keeping the customer appraised of progress and delivery.
  • Be a key voice for the customer in meetings and raise awareness of any priority orders or imminent deadlines.
  • Provide monthly written statistics on enquiry and order levels and present ideas for new business opportunities.
  • Track enquiries and orders through the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system throughout the 'enquiry quote order sale' lifecycle, and maintain shared system data files capturing all required information in accordance with the company's procedures.

Skills and attributes:

  • A good understanding of the manufacturing process for precision engineered metal components involving CNC milling and grinding. Ideally, you will have an engineering or CNC machine operation background, or a very good understanding of the processes involved.

  • You will have experience of working with an MRP system, raising quotes and processing orders for international customers within manufacturing.
  • You will be tenacious, personable and a good team player and able to work with others to collate the necessary information for you to respond promptly to customer order enquiries.
  • You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written and possess relevant engineering knowledge to both probe and convey technical information.
  • You will be confident, a selfstarter, and able to work autonomously, organising your daily priorities and alerting others to any urgent matters.

You may have experience of the following: Technical Engineer, Estimator, Engineering Estimator, Customer Relations, Sales Engineer (Manufacturing), Sales Coordinator, Order Processing, etc.
