Description
This role supports the Procurement Director and Senior Buyers in delivering the procurement strategy for the business.In this role you will be responsible for buying a group of categories in addition to supporting the buying of the overall procurement portfolio.
The range of categories is diverse from short shelf-life produce to long-life ingredients and bespoke items.The role is also responsible for sourcing new items and managing the approval process for new items through to product launch.
-Key Responsibilities & Duties:_
- Deliver best value purchasing: cost savings, quality, innovation, availability, compliance and SRM.
- Build and maintain a database of all suppliers, including key information on contacts and capabilities to supply (product portfolio, minimum order quantities and leadtimes)
- Ensure the right suppliers are in place to meet the needs of the business and develop strategic relationships.
- Understand the markets, price drivers and supply chains of all products purchased.
- Work closely with the technical team to ensure all the required information is in place.
- Benchmark, negotiate, and contract items to ensure adequate cover and competitive pricing.
- Along with the procurement assistant, manage stock levels with suppliers and onsite.
- Identify areas of risk to the business and work to create a mitigation plan.
- Develop and maintain an approved suppliers list for NPD to work with.
- Manage the new raw material process, providing commercial information and working with the technical department on approvals.
- Represent the Procurement team at Ops, NPD and Gate meetings.
- Work with the commercial team to ensure successful on time launches.
- Manage slow moving materials and communicate to the team regarding items impacted by delists.
- Identify areas for improvement with a clear understanding of the total cost of ownership.
- Support the team with the daytoday management of the overall procurement portfolio.
Experience & Qualifications:_
- 2+ years experience purchasing within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong Negotiation Skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of forecasting and experience in managing/reducing stock holding.
- Excellent Stakeholder management engagement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs, and MRP/ERP systems is preferred.
