    Exciting Opportunity: Science Specialist Teaching Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Science Specialist Teaching Assistant at an Ofsted good secondary school in Audenshaw.

    Role Overview:

    As a Science Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education, assisting both teachers and students in the classroom. Your key responsibilities will include:

    1. Classroom Support: Assisting science teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons across key stages 3 and 4. You will help set up experiments, demonstrations, and practical activities, ensuring that all resources are prepared and accessible for students.
    2. One-on-One Support: Providing targeted support to students who may require additional assistance with their science studies. Offering guidance on specific topics, helping with homework and revision, and reinforcing learning objectives to enhance understanding and confidence in science.
    3. Group Work: Facilitating group activities, discussions, or workshops that promote collaborative learning and peer-to-peer support. These sessions may focus on reinforcing key science concepts, problem-solving skills, or practical application of scientific principles.
    4. Assessment and Feedback: Assisting teachers with the assessment of student work, providing constructive feedback to help students identify areas for improvement and celebrate their successes. You may also support with marking, recording grades, and updating progress trackers to monitor student achievement.
    5. Lab Management: Supporting the safe and efficient running of science laboratories, ensuring that equipment is maintained, stored correctly, and used safely by students. You will help enforce health and safety protocols, supervise practical sessions, and assist with the preparation and clean-up of experiments.

    Requirements:

    • A degree in a science-related subject or relevant experience working within a scientific field is essential.
    • Previous experience working in an educational setting, particularly within a science department, would be advantageous but not essential.
    • Strong subject knowledge across key areas of science, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
    • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning, with the ability to adapt to the varying needs of students and teachers.

    • Competitive monthly salary ranging from £1677 to £2000, depending on experience and qualifications.

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
