Description
Are you a problem solver with great attention to detail? Are you looking to begin a long career in the NHS?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new cohort of committed and enthusiastic Trainee Clinical Coders to join our established team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

The posts will generally be based at Southend University Hospital but will also require travel to Basildon University Hospital and Broomfield Hospital.

The Clinical Coding team records information about every inpatient admitted by the Trust using alphanumeric codes (from the ICD-10 diagnosis classification and OPCS-4.9 procedure classification), investigating all aspects of their journey from start to finish.

These records can be understood throughout the NHS, used to plan for future patient care and can influence Trust income.

The post-holder is responsible for assigning correct clinical codes to diagnoses and operative procedures against nationally agreed standards, in order to produce reliable clinical information for commissioning, reimbursement (based on HRG assignment), audit, research and performance indicator production.
