We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Department of Rural Land Use to assist with the delivery of Agriculture courses at SRUC Craibstone, Aberdeen.

This role will be at Technician level and will involve supporting the Agriculture academicteam by scheduling, setting up and supporting practical activities, principally at SRUC's Tulloch Farm, near Aberdeen.

We are particularly looking for individual who are comfortable handling large animals and general farm machinery.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Coordinating practical activities at Tulloch Farm, to include the timetabling of classes in consultation with academic and farm staff.
  • To setup and dismantle practical classes, including preparing areas, setting up equipment and gathering animals relevant to each class.
  • Handle a wide range of livestock species and be able to bring them in to handling and teaching areas in preparation for practical classes. Returning animals to appropriate areas following practical classes and providing feed, water and bedding as appropriate.
  • To move animals between SRUC sites when required.
  • To support the academic staff in the delivery of practical classes.
  • To implement relevant health and safety processes to ensure the cleanliness of teaching areas and equipment.
  • To demonstrate a positive approach to animal welfare when handling livestock.
  • Ensure that consumable products for teaching are stocked and reordered as necessary.
