Level 3 Qualified (CCLD,CCPLD, NVQ or similar) in accordance with the QCF


We also have a number of posts within our Crèche team which will be working 17.5hrs Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.


Flying Start is an initiative from the Welsh Assembly Government, aimed at making a positive difference for the better to the life chances of children 0-3 years old, to ensure they have a flying start in life.

This initiative is now expanding across areas of Newport and we require additional Early Years Childcare Practitioners.


The Newport Flying Start Team are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and reliable Practitioners to work in partnership with Senior Practitioners, key staff, parents and carers to promote the vision and values of the Flying Start programme.

The posts hours to be agreed (Monday-Friday) school term time (39 weeks). The post commences as soon as possible, on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2024.


A relevant Childcare qualification Level 3 (or above), experience with children age 0-3 and a good knowledge of child development & CIW Child Care Policies and Practice is essential.

Experience of Flying Start Settings or similar is desirable.

Due to the nature of the role, the post-holder will be required to take annual leave at times which coincide with Flying Start closures.

The appointment process will involve an interview with senior members of the Early Years and Childcare Team.
