- We are the Environment Agency, and we work in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, and communities, we tackle the impacts of climate change and manage the assets that protect Central London from flooding.
You will be delivering and improving how we administer internal security and risk at our assets in a complex and challenging environment, assessing risks for the Thames Tidal Defences to protect staff, assets, and the public we serve.
Purpose of the Role- Delivery of personnel security vetting on behalf of Thames Tidal Defences
- Financial management of key contracts and team spending
- Adopt and implement security controls with input from both internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain critical security to preserve exceptional standards of delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personnel security vetting advice and guidance in relation to National Security Vetting, management process, residency, clearance status, etc
- Effective communications of policies, processes and guidance to internal staff and contractors alike
- Contribute to the effective planning and delivery of security contracts
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team
- Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) plays a huge part in the work that the Environment Agency does. The sitebased security team performs an essential role for the continued functioning of the Thames Tidal Defences to protect people and properties from flooding.
- Experience/skills required
- Essential
- Excellent organisational and administration skills
- Able to form good relationships within your department and the wider security community and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Proactive and efficient with the ability to deliver at pace
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience of personnel security practices in a large business setting or the public sector.
- An understanding of personnel security and risk, as well as a willingness to develop knowledge in these areas, whilst recognising future risks and strategically planning to mitigate them.
- Knowledge and a working understanding of industry good practice principles regarding personnel security vetting standards and frameworks, keeping abreast of changes to industry standards, regulations, and best practice
