    About the role

    Supervisory or team leader experience essential

    Location: Arkwright Street, Greater Manchester

  • This is a full-time permanent position working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern
  • 10.5 hours per shift in Winter, between 07.45hrs-18:15hrs, then 12.5 hours per shift in Summer. between 07.45hrs-20:15hrs.
  • What will I be doing?

    The role involves:

  • Providing excellent levels of customer service, you will advise and assist members of the public on how to use the site in order to maximise recovery of materials they are depositing.
  • Maintaining accurate records for the removal of materials from the site.
  • Controlling the exchange of containers by booking loads with the relevant person thus ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly.
  • Maintaining a tidy site within his/her areas of responsibility.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role.
  • What are the requirements?

  • HWRC Operations and knowledge of materials, both hazardous and non-hazardous.
  • Communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Basic financial awareness.
  • Assertive training techniques to deal with difficult customers.
  • Plan and progress tasks using own initiative.
  • Motivate public and staff to recycle.
  • Working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Literacy, numeracy and clerical skills.
  • What you will need is:


    • A good level of customer service and teamwork approach.

    • Full drivers' licence and vehicle.

    • Ideally some prior mobile plant use is desirable but full training will be given.
