We are looking for a Legacy Reinsurance Actuary (M/F/d), based in Munich or London.

Our team is committed to the direct contribution to the financial result of AGCS. We activate values hidden in legacy reserves, by reducing capital need and operational spend.


The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to Head of Reinsurance Analytics and Reinsurance Technical, you will be responsible for legacy reinsurance valuation and commutation analysis across several lines of long-tail business.

You will be discussing results of your work with involved stakeholders, local and global management as well as Group functions.

You are able to work independently and acquire autonomously the necessary information and methodology to fulfil your tasks. You will ensure that work results are reviewed and other analysts in day-to-day work.


Some of your specific responsibilities could include

  • Support the reinsurance legacy team with your analytical expertise in a broad variety of projects (e.g. commutations, portfolio transfers)
  • Prepare and perform Actuarial analysis for assigned business area including documentation, communication and explanation of results
  • Keep abreast of leading market practice and drive innovation in legacy reinsurance valuation
  • Promote close collaboration and interaction with the various business areas (Underwriting, Accounting, Claims, Senior Management, Group Center etc.) to foster mutual understanding how business developments impact actuarial drivers in the financials
  • Peer review work from other team members and mentor, provide guidance to other team members

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • Tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Mathematics, Statistics or qualified by experience in related discipline
  • Qualified Actuary (Actuary title is assigned upon completion of these exams; otherwise the Sr. Actuarial Analyst II title applies) where applicable
  • More than 5 years of business experience, preferable spanning multiple actuarial areas
  • Several years of experience in actuarial reserving and especially in legacy reserving
  • Experience with multiple lines of business and preferably multiple types of business
  • Excellent communication and networking skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and communicate results
  • Proven experience in developing, enhancing and implementing actuarial models, analyses and processes
  • Extensive computer skills (MS Office incl. VBA and software such as SAS, R, Python or SQL)
  • Excellent knowhow in collection, structuring and analysis of claims data from heterogenous sources
  • Job specific knowledge with regards to market dynamics, standard concepts and approaches, regulations / compliance standards, reporting requirements (e.g. reinsurance knowledge, reserving techniques, portfolio valuation, etc.)
  • Finance and Insurance knowhow (ideally P&C) as well as understanding of complexities inherent in an insurance group allowing for crossdepartmental thinking and acting
  • Ability to work in an international environment and outstanding intercultural skills
  • Fluent English skills, any other languages is a plus
