    If so, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse to join our busy OPAT unit in Infectious Diseases.

    You should have experience in Infectious diseases or an acute setting, experience of an outpatient setting would be an advantage. The ability to demonstrate evidence of senior responsibility within the workplace is required.

    You will need to have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to take on this role. You should also be able to demonstrate experience and proven project management skills, evidence of maintaining standards and leadership within the clinical setting.

    This role is also about developing others so you should enjoy working with, motivating and encouraging junior members of the team, helping to develop new skills and confidence.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Matron and the team in providing support to patients.

    In addition, the post holder will be required to work closely with the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of a high standard of individualised patient care, thus improving the patient experience. The position supports a clinical role in addition to the management of operational issues.

    The post will incorporate the provision of care to patients, their families and carers' in accordance with the philosophy and standards of care within the clinical area; in line with Trust policies and procedures, ensuring that values and beliefs are upheld.

    Additionally, you will demonstrate continuing professional development, reflecting individual needs, the needs of the team, and the needs of the organisation.

    This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 10 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

    Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.

    Education and Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Current first level registration with NMC
  • Nursing degree ( or actively working towards)
  • To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
  • Continuous professional development
  • Certificate in management and leadership or equivalent
  • Desirable criteria

  • Masters
  • None medical prescribing
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Extensive post registration experience currently in an acute clinical environment
  • Experience of leading and managing change on a clinical level.
  • Experience of working as a senior practitioner in a health care setting
  • Management training course with experience covering recruitment and selection, IPR, equality and diversity and managing staff performance and attendance.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to motivate and inspire staff and initiate changes.
  • Experience of multi professional working
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of care and treatment of patients with infections and or infectious diseases.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of providing clinical supervision.
