About the role
Our Balfour Beatty
Ground Engineering business has a terrific opportunity for a
Commercial Assistant to join our SB3 Commercial team based in Birmingham, working on the HS2, N1/ N2 project.
The HS2, N1/ N2 project covers the northern 90km section of Phase 1 of the overall HS2 scheme to provide a new high-speed rail connection between London and the Midlands, connecting to existing rail infrastructure to complete the journey to Manchester.
SB3 are a joint venture incorporating Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering (BBGE) and Bachy Soletanche Ltd (BSL), and are appointed by BBV, (Balfour Beatty/ Vinci JV), to deliver the geotechnical works required along the approximately 90km of route from Leamington Spa to Lichfield.
What you'll be doing
Other key responsibilities will be:
- Ordering information and systematically checking data
- Supporting the QS / MQs in checks against live subcontracts and administering payments
- Supporting the QS in the updating of forecasting document and review of cost reports
- Identifying issues with cost report and following through rectification of these errors
- Checking allocation sheets and rates against labour subcontracts
- Administering payments with QS/MQS on R1
- Supporting with checks on cost report and monthly reporting.
Who we're looking for
You are looking for the following:
- Previous Commercial Work experience
- Completed or in the process of completing a BSc in Quantity Surveying
- Construction industry knowledge
