This is an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant, to join our established team of 4.9 wte Consultant Medical Microbiologists and 3 wte Specialty Doctors.

A Specialty trainee, based in Cardiff, is periodically attached.


The clinical and laboratory Microbiology service has full UKAS ISO15189 accreditation and is networked to provide a comprehensive microbiology and infection control service.

The post holder will attend meetings and ward visits at other sites within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.


They will play an important role in the redesign of service provision in light of the Health Board's Clinical Futures strategy, and the Welsh Government "Future Delivery of Pathology Services in Wales" document.

This position involves Regulated Activity with children and adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:
Enhanced check with barred list information, including adults and children's barred list check.

You must hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview
