The post holder will be part of the Mid-North Wales Forest Operations Team.
Mid-North contains a diverse mix of upland and lowland forests including, Dyfi, Macynlleth, Artists Valley, Nant y Moch, Nant yr Arian, Hafren, Dyfnant, Radnor & Kerry.
The Forest Operations Team is responsible for the planning and delivery of NRW's annual harvesting and re-stocking programmes for the area.
The Team works closely with external contractors and timber processing companies to ensure that these plans are delivered to time and in line with their contracts.
The Officer role is a mix of office-based work and site visits to prepare and then manage forest operations contracts, including health and safety.
The officer will work closely with customers, contractors, other NRW teams and the public. The Officer is supported by site supervisors on active harvesting and re-stocking contracts.
The Officer may be required to work out of hours either as part of a duty rota or should there be a need to respond to unforeseen incidents on site.
Knowledge and experience of the following:
- Experience of working across a wide range of land management disciplines.
- Knowledge of sustainable forest management, UKWAS and forest certification schemes.
- Experience of community liaison and public engagement activities.
- Knowledge and experience of designated sites, and all aspects of forest practise, including land liabilities, forest planning and forest operations.
