Job objectives and responsibilities
Responsibility for managing the projects programmes and commercial reconciliation ensuring that the projects are completed within their projected budget/price.


Review estimates and costs of the work and when the project is in progress, keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show expenditure,.

Support preparation of scoping documents, budgets, bills of quantities and other related documentation.

Active involvement in every stage of a project in respect of commercial tracking.


Main duties

  • Close liaison with Projects, Commercial and Finance team to enable adherence to programme, forecasting and cost recovery
  • Working closely with the Lead Project Manager and Lead PMO for all project related commercials
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, suppliers and internal business partners
  • Follow up status of high priority worksin progress and ensure the system contact is fully update.
  • Prepare and analyse project costings for scopes/tenders, such as materials, quantities, labour and time
  • Help prepare costing documents
  • Support the Project Manager to allocate work to supply chain and oversee commercials associated with their work at all stages of the project
  • Perform risk, value management and cost control during a project
  • Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance works arising following project work
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
  • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports
  • Value completed work, oversee bills and arrange payments

Person Specification

  • Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports in order to convey complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop relationships
  • Numerical and data analysis skills
  • A creative and innovative approach to problem solving
  • IT skills and the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages
  • Team work skills and the ability to motivate and lead those on site
  • Project management skills desirable
  • Resilience, determination and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Good commercial awareness
  • A practical, logical and methodical approach to work
  • Attention to detail
  • Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction legislation, technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters desirable
  • ATT, ACA, ICAEW qualifications desirable
