What is the point of this role?


The role of an ICT Apprenticeship Assessor is to be responsible for the assessment and progress of each learner and ensure the effectiveness of the learning experience of each apprentice through to End Point Assessment (EPA).

You create, strengthen and own relationships with Apprentices by managing the progression of the caseload of apprentices and ultimately take overall responsibility for each Apprentice's journey in providing pastoral care.

You are the 'go-to' person for their development and you love to watch them grow.

You will be part of a supportive environment where you will be encouraged to self-develop but you will also contribute your ideas for department self - assessment of apprenticeship delivery.


What will I be doing?

  • You will be responsible for progression and tracking of a case load of apprentices within the Level 3 ICT apprenticeships, you will need to work with each learner to ensure there is a plan of action if it is needed to ensure they make progress.
  • Help prepare the Apprentices for their end point assessment by working with them to produce a portfolio of work that supports Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours within the framework of the Awarding Body. This will be included assessing the coursework for your case load.
  • Regular scheduled Progress Reviews with case load of apprentices working with the apprentice and team leader to manage progress and offer support if needed.
  • First point of contact for intervention, recognising when to escalate to the senior staff if a plan of action fails.
  • Ability to recognise when an Apprentice needs their skills and abilities challenged to get the best out of their performance, this can consist of finding extra opportunity to enhance what they already possess.
  • Coaching small groups in relation to personal & career development.
  • Safeguarding of apprentices and ensuring that process is followed if there is a concern.
  • Supporting other members of the team and wider business when needed.
  • Ensure accurate data is recorded for apprenticeship progression.

What is needed to do the role?

Essential

  • An appropriate academic or professional vocational qualification
  • Experience of managing learner progress
  • Experience of assessing IT based coursework.
  • Ability to work in the office 2/3 days a week.

Desirable

  • Coaching or Mentoring Qualification /Experience
  • Experience in the IT and/or Telecommunications sector.
  • Assessor and/or IQA qualification (TAQA)
