Decontamination Assistant

Decontamination Team Leader


Role Summary:


To work as part of a team in assisting with the effective and efficient operation of the Decontamination Facility, ensuring sufficient equipment is provided to the clinical areas of the Dental Education Facilities (DEFs) within appropriate turnaround timeframes.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Carry out processes within the Decontamination Facility to ensure a sufficient supply of decontaminated instruments are available for staff and students for patient care.
  • Effectively carry out decontamination processes in compliance with the relevant current guidance and regulations.
  • Manual handling of instrument loads and deliveries.
  • Routine testing of decontamination equipment to ensure that all decontamination processes are adequately achieved.
  • Effective communication with PDSE colleagues and thirdparty courier services to maintain an effective supply of equipment to all Dental Education Facilities.
  • Ensure all activities are undertake in compliance with Equality & Diversity.

  • Understanding of process and ability to follow procedures.

Experience:


  • Previous experience of work in a process controlled environment is desirable.

Skills:


  • Ability to work as an individual in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be proactive to complete tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Maintenance of items of equipment involves dismantling, cleaning, reassembling and lubrication. The post holder must be capable of working with a high level of manual dexterity.
  • This role is physically demanding and involves a high level of physical activity. The post holder must be capable of lifting & carrying and moving equipment using trolleys. Manual handling training will be provided.

This post requires Hepatitis B immunisation and other health clearances as stipulated by Occupational Health.

Normal working hours are 0845 to 1700 Monday to Friday, however on occasions to meet business need you will be required to work revised hours, typically between 0800 and 1800.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Decontamination Assistant to join our Decontamination Team, based in Plymouth.


We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who to join our Decontamination Team to assist in the effective and efficient operation of our Decontamination Suite.

Our Decontamination team provide a crucial service across all four Dental Education Facilities, ensuring sufficient equipment is provided to the Clinical Teams within appropriate turnaround timeframes.

Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise (PDSE) are an award-winning Social Enterprise and Community Interest Company.

We provide NHS treatment and outreach services to local communities in Devon and Cornwall and we work closely with the University of Plymouth's Peninsula Dental School to support the clinical education of its dental healthcare students.
