Job Title:
Teaching Assistant - SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health)

Location:
Warrington, UK

Salary:
Competitive, commensurate with experience

As a Teaching Assistant specialising in SEMH, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who require additional assistance due to social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.

You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide oneonone support to students with SEMH needs, assisting them with academic tasks and helping them develop social and emotional skills.
Collaborate with teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
Assist with classroom activities, including group work, discussions, and practical tasks.
Support students during transitions between activities and locations, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with individuals with social, emotional, and mental health challenges, ideally in a school or residential setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students who may display challenging behaviours.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond effectively to changing situations.
A proactive approach to professional development, with a commitment to continuously improving your skills and knowledge in the field of SEMH support.
