REPORTING LINE


The Crane Operator will report directly to the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) with a functional reporting line to the Senior Toolpusher.


LOCATION


Well-Safe Solutions Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU), may be required to work at other company locations or supplier's premises as required.

This position is based offshore (Jack-Up rig).

2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation.


ROLE
Responsible for ensuring Cranes and lifting equipment are maintained "fit for purpose" and readily available to support MODU operations. Also responsible for Crane operations, supervising the deck crew and maintaining deck laydown areas in an orderly fashion.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Key responsibilities are to include the facilitation and management of the company's integrated Business Management system to levels that will successfully achieve the requirements of all interested parties including customer, regulatory and certification authorities/providers.


The Crane Operator will:


  • Conduct preshift inspections of Crane main structure, boom, winches, sheave blocks, wires and safety devices. Inspection findings must be documented, reported and followed up with a sense of urgency.
  • Lead and supervise all Crane activities on board the MODU ensuring that such work is carried out safely, efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all hoisting and lifting equipment has valid certification, is maintained in a "fit for purpose" condition and is readily available at the point of use to meet the work schedule.
  • Proactively assist with the maintenance, repair, and, or replacement of loose lifting equipment and equipment located on the Cranes.
  • Mentor and coach the Deck Crew in Crane operations, Deck management activities, and loading/offloading of cargo and bulk materials.
  • Attend and proactively participate in on and offshore meetings and training events.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.

KEY OUTCOMES

Operational Excellence

  • Zero NPT related to Crane or lifting equipment
  • Deck space/cargo laydown areas are always available to support well operations.
  • Assist as directed with preloading, jacking and skidding operations.
  • No personal injury, harm to the environment or loss of containment resulting from lifting operations.
  • Assessed as competent in current position.
  • Team competence average is ≥ 90%

HSE Culture of Excellence

  • Actively engage in use of Well-Safe Solutions continuous improvement programs.
  • Ensure that all observed unsafe practices/conditions, near misses, incidents and or accidents are reported promptly to the OIM.
  • Focus on doing things right the first time, every time, and contribute actively to continual improvement activities about the rig.
  • Ensure that all HSE improvement opportunities are recorded, discussed and incorporated into the TBRA to reduce likelihood of Risk to ALARP.
Lead optimisation reviews within all deck areas and disciplines.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCY

ESSENTIAL

  • UK MIST, Shoulder Measurement, BOSIET or FOET, OGUK Medical
  • 3 years prior experience as, Crane Operator, on midwater semisubmersible
  • Stage advanced Operator certificate
  • Completion of all mandatory training and certification requirements for Crane Operator as described in Companies' offshore training matrix.
