Applications are invited for 2 substantive Consultant posts.

1 Speciality Breast Consultant Histopathologist (Breast Lead, mono-speciality working possible)

1 General Histopathologist

One is a replacement post with up to 12 PAs available. The second is a new post with up to 12 PAs available.

The post holder(s) will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department, whilst the opportunity is available to develop specialist interests for the general role.

The laboratory is accredited to UKAS (ISO 15189:2012), with a brand new laboratory which opened in 2022. The department has a fantastic mortuary facility (built in 2011) and holds a HTA licence. The department carries out approx. 650 post mortems each year.

The post will be based at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS FT.

As a senior employee of the Trust, you will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients.


Integral to these responsibilities is the following:

  • The provision of a first-class clinical service
Effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty

Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with Trust R&D team.

Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies

Blackpool is situated on the Fylde Coast which has stunning beaches and many quaint towns and villages.

There are highly desirable areas to live on the Fylde Coast and in the Ribble valley with property prices lower than in the Manchester area and we offer a generous relocation package tailored to individual circumstances.

There are leading schools across the patch with excellent transport links into the Lake District, Manchester and Liverpool.
