The HR OM team are responsible for providing HR data for Kent Police and Essex Police through the use of Microsoft Excel and both the joint HR system (SAP) and internal reporting system, Web Intelligence.

The role involves working with all strands of HR data, such as absence, attrition, resourcing numbers along with the auditing, review and on-going maintenance of the organisational structures.

A key component of the role is its variety.

The HR OM assistant will be responsible for maintaining, updating and quality assuring a range of HR data to satisfy both 'day to day' and ad hoc organisational requirements and presenting information in the most logical and appropriate format, for a variety of internal and external customers.


The OM Assistant is a crucial role within the team as they will required to assist the OM Officers with the production of HR data, running a variety of reports and considering the appropriate presentation format.

The role will be responsible for updating databases, corporate information documents, administering establishment activities, in order to provide high quality, accurate and timely information for the force/Chief Officers.


Due to the breadth of HR data that is managed, the HR OM team frequently interact and engage with all teams across Human Resources including People Development, HR Strategy, Corporate Recruitment, Resource Planning, Operational HR, Health Services and Learning & Development as well as a number of departments outside of HR such as Corporate Finance, Business Services and Strategic Change Teams.

The role provides a lot of opportunity to engage with a number of departments and, therefore, applicants are required to have an excellent level of communication skills.

Applicants are required to be literate and experienced to a comprehensive level in the use of Microsoft Excel and familiar with other Microsoft products such as Word, PowerPoint and e
- mail. Previous experience of working with computerised management information systems, such as SAP, is ideal.


Applicants must be able to demonstrate an eye for detail, good numerical awareness combined with good organisational and interpersonal skills, which are essential to the role.

A minimum of two years' office administration experience is desirable.

You will need to possess a flexible approach to working, able to meet moving and sometimes tight deadlines. A high degree of discretion is necessary as the work will frequently relate to data of a personal nature.


The role will also include providing administrative support to wider HR departments when required, which may result in the need to travel to locations across Kent and Essex.


You must be able to work as part of a team but also have the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload, whilst dealing with interruptions and requests.


This role is predominantly a home working role with a maximum requirement of 2 days a week in the office, where necessary.

Good understanding in use of Microsoft Excel

Kent Police and Essex Police have separate salary grading systems therefore the salary for this position will be dependent on which home office force you are appointed to.

This will be discussed with the successful applicant before a final offer is made.
