We are pleased to offer an exciting developmental post for a band5 through to a band 6 Orthoptist to join our small but dynamic Orthoptic department.
Full preceptorship and mentoring will be provided as required with a view to progression to band 6 after one year.
The successful applicant will provide care at 3 hospitals; The Western Eye Hospital (Marylebone), St Marys Hospital (Paddington) and Charing Cross Hospital (Hammersmith), therefore willingness to work cross sites is essential.
The successful applicant will work as part of the team receiving direct referrals from a dedicated Ophthalmic A+E at the Western Eye Hospital, GPs, neurologists, endocrinologists and paediatricians; school nurses, and health visitor referrals.
We host placements for orthoptic students from all four University sites throughout the year, and are heavily involved in interdepartmental teaching.
All AHP and Nursing staff at the Western Eye Hospital are involved in the newly-developed Ophthalmic Practitioner Training (OPT), so you will be able to work on your skills to further yourself in an extended role.
To work within the Orthoptic team, operating as an autonomous practitioner to diagnose and manage patients referred to the Orthoptic, Low Vision, and visual fields service.
