Description

The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service Cymru (EMRTS Cymru) is Wales's exciting and innovative aeromedical prehospital Critical Care and Transfer service.

EMRTS is consultant-led and is committed to being the best prehospital and transfer service in the world.

The service primarily operates on the Wales Air Ambulance Charity's fleet of EC-145 Helicopters, and can also utilise a fleet of rapid response vehicles which provide operational and weather resilience.

In addition to the EMRTS response, the role will support the deployment of the Adult Critical Care Transfer Service (ACCTS) which is a predominately road-based service with dedicated critical care transfer staff, vehicles and equipment from our bases in Cardiff and Bangor.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Dispatch Team with EMRTS.

Based at the WAST Clinical Contact Centre in Cwmbran you will work alongside an EMRTS Clinician, monitoring the calls placed with the Ambulance Service and dispatching EMRTS and ACCTS Critical Care teams to selected calls, by air and road as appropriate.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, and work quickly and logically under pressure to facilitate timely dispatch and appropriate logístical support for EMRTS and ACCTS teams responding by air or road in both pre-hospital and inter-hospital situations.

You will have a good understanding of CAA HEMS and Air Ambulance regulations, and will work closely with the Wales Air Ambulance Charity and the Charity's Air Operator, as well as with WAST and other Emergency Services and voluntary organisations such as Mountain Rescue.

This is a demanding role, working rotating shifts to cover a 24/365 position.
