It is a really exciting time to be joining our Port Health Team as we transform our services in response to the UK's departure from the European Union.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's Port Health Team as a
Technical Specialist.


Our mission is the protection of public and animal health, carrying out a range of checks to ensure imported goods are safe for all of us in the UK.

Your role

  • A Shift Allowance equivalent to 7
    % of your base salary will be paid to recognise that you work over the range of the opening hours of the Port Health facility (currently hours).

What you will need
You will have extensive technical and legislative knowledge and understanding of the Port Health legislative framework. Ideally you would have significant experience of import controls on Products of Animal Origin (POAO).

You will also have substantial experience working in a technical port health role, as well as a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Environmental Health or Veterinary Science.
