This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their Defence Digital office and part of the week from home.
The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account.
If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a Cyber Apprentice in Defence Digital.Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due this is an apprenticeship opportunity. This post will therefore begin on your appointment and end 23 months after that date.
You should be aware that when your Fixed-term Appointment at MOD comes to an end, arrangements will be made in line with the FTA policy.
Job description:
Learning while you work
While on the programme you'll complete 1 or 2 placements. These could be in Defence Digital, with another team or organisation in the Ministry of Defence.
As the talent of the future, you'll be in high demand with our digital links across defence.
Formal training and Apprenticeship study
The rest of your time will be allocated to formal learning consisting of compulsory and chosen modules as well as self-study for your qualification.
Our core training package will cover all the basics and help you settle into working life by developing your presenting skills, increasing your emotional intelligence, and building your resilience.

- Presenting confidently
At the end of the 2-year apprenticeship you will be competent in either:
- The Cyber Security Engineer is the most technology focused role in the occupation and will typically design, build, and test secure networks or security products or systems with a particular focus on the security aspects of the design.
- The Cyber Risk Analyst Focuses on risk assessment, analysis and giving advice on risk mitigations. The roles may support formal security governance, regulatory & compliance (GRC).
Qualifications:
- The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:
- An A Level in ICT
- Or an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
- Or a BTEC Extended Diploma in ICT (180 Credits)
- A minimum of 1 year's work experience in a Technical Support role e.g., Help Desk. You should also be working at Level 2 in Maths and English.
Person specification:
Cyber Security Technologists all require an understanding of security concepts and technology and how to mitigate risks arising from threats.
As well as supporting your colleagues, you'll have your own tasks and projects to take charge of and will be encouraged to speak up and challenge how we do things.
