Do you want to be involved with a Nuclear Generation site as it transitions from defueling to fuel free and commences the next phase of deconstruction?

Are you looking for an opportunity to influence a key programme of work, managing change and planning/governing the deconstruction plan through to a care and maintenance state?


As we prepare and move into the next stage of Deconstruction, Hinkley Point B Power station will transfer from EDF to Magnox to manage the lifecycle to a care and maintenance state.

The Project Controls Team will govern and oversee the planning and cost of deconstruction and ensure accountability of the Station and Transfer & Deconstruction Group.


The Opportunity


The Lead Planner within the Project Controls Team is responsible for the delivery of consistent and coherent Project Control services to a variety of stakeholders across the business including, the Station and Nuclear Decommissioning.


Pay, Benefits & Culture


The salary range is between £40,069 and £84,892, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Company Agreement.

The starting salary for this appointment will be dependent of your existing salary, competence, experience, and qualifications.

You will receive 28 days annual holiday plus bank holidays, incremental and competency-based progression, and a defined contributions pensions scheme.

What you'll be doing
You will lead a Team of Planners as well as overseeing/governing through a matrix organisation the Planning aspects for the Transfer and Deconstruction (T&D) Department to ensure compliance and demonstrate accountability to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority

  • Acting as primary point of contact for the planning, resource and risk management of programmes, projects, work packs and tasks.
  • Providing oversight and Leadership for the planners associated with the programme and ensure procedural requirements are adhered to.
  • Providing analysis and advice in relation to establishing a fit for purpose project control capability in support of work delivered by the programme.
  • Ensuring progress is analysed and issues, areas of concern or opportunity are communicated along with options/recommendations to manage the work effectively.
  • Maintaining an effective interface with all customer areas working collaboratively to develop common reports, process measures and tools and then identify potential improvements.
  • Reviewing and managing the performance and competency of the personnel working within the Project Control Group and supporting succession management.
  • Establishing an appropriate interface with the Station compliance plans so that there is a process to translate/align project and workpack plans with the Station's workmanagement and outage schedules.
  • Establishing an appropriate interface with the CTO Programme Office so that there is strong alignment between Programme Offices wherever possible.
  • Managing the standards, budget, and accountability of the Project Controls Team.

Who you are


You will hold a HNC minimum qualification with a preference for a degree level or equivalent preferred in an appropriate discipline.


You will have a strong understanding of modern project and work control techniques within complex multi-functional organisations and experience of operating in a large, highly regulated environments.

Good commercial and financial awareness, ideally with a strong working knowledge of financial

systems.
