Introduction


The House of Commons Retail Team is a dynamic and ambitious team with three gift shops across the Parliamentary Estate and an online shop with a warehouse in an offsite location.


Retail Services is part of the Customer Experience and Service Delivery team, with a remit of delivering an exceptional multichannel retail experience for Members and their staff, House staff, visitors to Parliament, and the public.

This role is an exciting opportunity to join a creative and ambitious team in a non-traditional retail environment.


The Role


In this role as a Warehouse and Online Shop Assistant, the post holder will be required to work with the Stock Controller and Online Shop Supervisor to manage all the stock needs of the retail teams.

It will be your responsibility to support best practice procedures in maintaining an accurate stock file and to develop a high level of product knowledge and standards control.

You will need to be knowledgeable about all our services and provide the highest levels of customer care.

Service is a key part of this role as you will be liaising with internal and external customers as well as different teams in the house.


Please note:
This role will be based primarily at Parliament's offsite storage centre (Ceva) in Acton.


Skills and Experience

  • Proven stockroom/warehouse experience and an awareness of Health and Safety and Manual Handling. Proven experience with Retail management systems and basic MS Office computer skills.
  • Evidence of effectively dealing with customers, handling enquiries, comments and complaints. Knowledge of how to communicate with a diverse customer base and the ability to find solutions to customer needs.
  • Evidence of working as a part of a team contributing to a productive and positive workspace.
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure to specific deadlines and to prioritise your workload and solve problems. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to deliver information effectively.
