What Will You Be Doing?

Are you taking care of Boels Rental in Durham? As our hybrid Fitter/Driver, you will be kept busy doing 'test & run' for our light and medium machinery and plant equipment and delivering/collecting machines from our customers.

This is a hybrid branch support role, where you will be expected to work flexibly between technical and driving tasks throughout the day depending on the push and pull of the workload and the staffing levels.

Some of the machinery that you could get the chance to work on is engines, transmission systems, hydraulics, electronics, pneumatic, and parts of plant chassis/frames, such as tracks, wheels and booms.

You will have the chance to service and repair anything from generators, compressors and concrete mixers to compacting machines, (road rollers/plates), powered hand tools and disc cutters.

As out hybrid Fitter/Driver, you'll also step in when the other Driver needs extra support with the deliveries.

You'll load up the order into your van and you take your coffee 'to-go' because you need to deliver the equipment straight to the client.

When you are at the site, you advise on the use of the machines, carefully check the technical condition of them and make sure that the administration is done correctly.

Your eye for detail is really important here

At the end of the rental period, you collect all the equipment from the customer and bring it back to the Durham branch.

This way, it can be cleaned and checked, so we can make the next customer happy again

You'll never get bored at our Durham branch, that's for sure Your working hours will be Monday to Friday, 0730hrs to 1700hrs.

To also become the best at Boels Rental as a hybrid Fitter/Driver, you have to:

Have a good level of mechanical, diagnostic and faultfinding skills, coupled with the ability to work quickly and effectively to minimise delays. (You love pulling engines apart, finding the issue and repairing them back to full serviceability)
Hold a full UK Driving Licence with category BE. (You will need to be able to jump into the Boels van and pop over to a customer's site to quickly to deliver or collect kit)
Have valid proof of your right to work in the UK (Boels does not arrange relocation, work visas or provide visa sponsorship)

A competitive annual salary ranging from £23,029 to £27,044 plus quarterly performance based bonuses. The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salary offered will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, relevant skills/experience, relevant qualifications and performance
