We sit within the Data, Technology and Innovation Division, which is at the forefront of transforming the FCA as we meet the demands of a digital regulatory future.

Our Strategy & Engagement team is currently looking for an Associate to support managing our global impact work and support the engagement with key international stakeholders.


This is an exciting time to join our expanding team, to work on a wide variety of topics and with a very diverse range of stakeholders.

We act as the knowledge hub for all things Innovation related and play a key role in building the global reputation for the FCA as an innovation leader and champion.

The team is also responsible for the Global Financial Innovation Network (GFIN), offering opportunities for interesting cross-pollination work.

For anyone thinking of joining, prior experience of one or more of the following is a plus:

  • Experience with an international organisation, domestic regulator or government body.
  • Financial services sectors such as retail banking, payments or lending, general insurance, pensions, investments and wholesale markets.
What does the role involve?- Contributing to the smooth management of the Global Financial Innovation Network- Supporting our external domestic and global engagement with key stakeholders- Drafting briefings for seniors- Providing support in designing and implementing new engagement initiatives- Engaging with colleagues internally to support a coordinated approach across Innovation and the FCA


This role will require a good ability to manage competing priorities and deliver multiple projects at the same time, a keen interest in interacting with global and domestic stakeholders at various levels of seniority.

A knowledge of the financial services sector will be beneficial, but is not essential.

What are we looking for?


Minimum Criteria- Experience in stakeholder management: you will need to demonstrate experience in stakeholder management- Experience in managing and organising working groups, meetings, events, newsletters- Excellent written and oral communication skills: able to draft documents, including briefings, and deliver key messages about complex issues clearly.

Demonstrate a strong aptitude for present to senior stakeholders and secure buy in from a range of stakeholders.- Experience delivering work with multiple competing priorities to time and quality standards.

- Demonstrate an understanding of the role of Innovation in the FCA and in the national and global landscape


Essential Criteria- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.- Interest in technology and innovation: you will engage regularly with the Fintech ecosystem and will therefore need an interest and understanding of the UK and international financial services innovation landscape.- Written and oral communication skills: both verbally and in writing, to different types of stakeholders able- Good judgement and analytical skills: you will have the ability to form judgements about issues and problems, and how to resolve them, adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach- Strong organisation skills: to ensure the timely delivery of competing priorities The ability to balance, prioritise and manage competing demands and be flexible to support the team's outcomes.- Initiative, motivation, drive and a "can-do" attitude, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, remaining focused on the task at hand.

Desirable Criteria- Experience and interest in emerging technologies and trends in financial services, including Distributed Ledger Technology, cryptocurrencies, open banking and green finance

  • Commercial and political awareness:
an understanding of the wider economic environment, and international developments/pressures
