Are you a Construction Buyer keen to work for a principal contractor with a strong order book and excellent employer reputation?
A rare opportunity has arisen for a Construction Buyer to join our client's growing commercial team.

Over the last 40 years this Main Contractor have established themselves as a leading brand in their industry specialising in new build, refurbishment, facades, and insurance reinstatement projects across the UK.


This is a core addition to the team, it is a stand alone Buyer role with a huge amount of autonomy and would suit someone keen to develop their career and possibly grow a team as the business continues to expand.


Duties day to day will include:

  • Placing purchase orders for material and plant.
  • Obtaining quotes and prices for the contracts department.
  • Purchasing materials at the best rates, value, and specification compliant.
  • Ensuring all goods are delivered on the required date.
  • Working to stringent deadlines.
  • Liaising with other internal departments to ensure deadlines are achieved.
  • Issuing out enquiries, analysing and collating quotations.
  • Advising Surveyors of costs for budgetary and tender purposes.
  • Approaching, setting up and managing accounts with new suppliers.
  • Resolution of any invoice queries and disputes.
  • Issuing tender enquiries for any PSL agreements, review returns and appoint.
  • Assisting with tender preparation.
  • Checking purchase invoices and entering onto the system timeously.
  • Checking of price lists and quotes to passing purchase invoices.
  • File purchase invoices for payment run.
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding queried invoices.

Key skills sought for the role include:

  • Ability to demonstrate relevant experience within the Construction Industry.
  • Excellent negotiating and buying skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office programs.
  • Mathematical competence.
  • Excellent communication with internal and external parties.
  • Experience with Sage 200 and payroll (preferable but not essential).
