Description
The duties of the Team Leader within our Components department will be to manage the machine shop in order to produce engine components for super/hyper car manufacturers.
Other responsibilities include assigning day to day tasks to staff whilst managing employee holidays and their time and attendance.You will also be expected to set & operate multiple CNC machines as required to cover for sickness/holidays and liaise with other departments to ensure issues that arise are dealt with in a timely manner.
The Role:
- Manage flow of product through manufacturing to minimize leadtime and maximize machine and people utilization.
- Analyse and report daily performance against production plan, taking necessary remedial action when required.
- Support shop floor personnel with problem solving (e.g., tooling, fixtures, CMM etc)
- Work with production engineering, quality, and design to optimize processes.
- Implement and monitor TPM of key processes.
- Capture downtime information and provide solutions to the team.
- Investigate and resolve planned vs. actual labour booking variances. Identify and implement (where appropriate) cycle and process time reductions.
- Identify and action training needs to create a multiskilled, rotated workforce.
- Mentor and instruct Operators/Juniors & Apprentices to perform manufacturing operations when required.
- Be committed to continuous improvement and suggest improvements regarding methods, processes, and tooling.
- Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
- Support the Company's compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
- Leadership experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Competent broad range of mechanical engineering and manufacturing skills.
- Knowledge of major engine component manufacturing such as crank and cam shafts. Cylinder head & blocks would be advantageous.
- Ability to read, interpret and communicate technical information.
- Effective communicator both verbal and written.
- Rational and logical thought patterns, ability to analyse and make effective decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, a persuasive negotiator.
- Customer focused both internal and external.
Shift Details
This role will be rotating weekly on a early and late shift.
Early Shift
Monday - Thursday: 06:00 to 14:00
Friday - 06:00 to 13:00
Late Shift
Monday - Thursday: 14:00 to 22:00
Friday - 13:00 to 20:00
