We are looking forward to welcoming and supporting a bright keen motivated band 2 Health Care Support Worker to join our team in assisting us in delivering essential and specialist care to our patients.


The Healthcare Support Worker duties required by the Outpatient Department reflect the Fundamental Skills & some Supportive Skills detailed in the Healthcare Support Worker Skills Framework.

The Health Care Support Worker will actively participate as a member of the OPD team and will be responsible for contributing towards the smooth and efficient running of the clinics

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the department is clean and tidy.

The post holder will assist with maintaining ward stocks, keeping storerooms organised and tidy, keep clinical equipment clean and undertake other duties, including some aspects of clinical care as delegated by qualified staff.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

To assist the Registered Practitioner in the provision of patient care under guidance and supervision of the registered practitioner.


The successful applicant will need to be reliable, enthusiastic and a self-motivated individual, preferably with recent hospital experience or experience in a caring background.

The applicant will need to demonstrate an interest within the different specialties.

Opportunities also will be given to work within a number of different specialties which currently include General Medicine, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology, Hepatology Immunology, Surgery (General, Colorectal, Vascular and Plastic), and Trauma and Orthopedics; the list is not exhaustive.


Exposure to such a broad spectrum of specialties offers the opportunity to acquire many new skills and continually develop learning, supported through a combination of bespoke training and practical on-the-job tuition.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to work as part of a team is essential. Knowledge of outpatient work would be useful but training and support will be provided.
