Babcock Corporate Services (BCS)
The Group Internal Auditor role is based within our Babcock Corporate Services (BCS) business unit.


Babcock Corporate Services (BCS) is a global function, with our largest site being Lakeside in Portsmouth, but we operate from multiple sites around the world.

BCS supplies and operates all IT, security, procurement, and finance Shared Services.

We are embedded alongside the operations that we serve, enabling us to maintain close working relationships that support delivery to our customers.

We drive standardisation, simplification and automation across Babcock, to help generate sustainable value for the group and our external customers.


The Role

The difference our new Group Internal Auditor will make:

As a Group Internal Auditor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary through working with management to develop acceptable solutions to address issues or gaps identified, as well as ensuring remediation is implemented.

Furthermore, you have the chance to be part of an entirely new team, as the function has now transitioned to in house; not only, do you have the chance to work in a new team but, you also, will have exposure to working on a vareity of exiting contracts such as:

sustaining the entirety of the UK's submarine fleet to delivering to emergency services customers such as the London Fire Brigade, the Metropolitan Police Service.


Day to day, you'll be providing independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve BIG operations by delivering an objective evaluation of the existing internal financial, non-financial, and risk controls.

This role requires regular travel to Wigmore Street, London, as well as travel to various other Babcock Hubs such as Devonport, Plymouth; alongside home working arrangements.


Essential experience

  • Demonstratable experience of audit, risk and control experience.
  • Proactive mind set in understanding the overall business needs and changes.
  • Ideally, recognized professional qualification i.e., Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), actuarial qualifications or Certified Information System Auditor are desirable.
  • Experience in the Defence sector and experience in data analytics will be of added advantage but, are not essential.
