As Head of Central Operations you will be responsible for all of our operational departments within our central base, this includes our Roasthouse, Bakehouse, Cookhouse, Warehouse & Logistics departments.

This will be a hands on operational role ensuring we maintain & enhance operational performance, safety & compliance across all apartments.

Creating & implementing processes that can be scaled across each area within your teams.

Your primary goal is to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of each operational function, addressing issues promptly and maintaining operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for all compliance including Health and Safety across all departments within your remit including HACCP reviews, risk assessments and COSHH reviews, PPM certificates, EHO checks, Team compliance training and pest control.
  • Manage current systems and procedures and look for continuous improvement.
  • Complete strategic projects allocated by the Operation Director to ensure they are completed within the agreed time frames and according to outlined specifications and budget.
  • Be responsible for managing budgets, reviewing financial information and KPI's to drive efficiency and inspire managers to aim for excellence.
  • Analyse Management Information weekly and use it to identify areas of improvement. To share this with direct reports within the weekly operations meetings.
  • To review and develop processes across the whole of operations to ensure Cookhouse, Bakehouse, Warehouse & logistics and roasthouse work efficiently and be cost effective.
  • To be forward thinking, planning and preparing for the impact our continuous growth has on Cookhouse, Bakehouse, Roasthouse and the Warehouse & logistic departments including schedules, route planning and compliance.
  • Develop training programmes along with direct reports to ensure that systems and procedures are being followed and processes are being conformed to and quality standards are being maintained by upskilling the Operations workforce.
  • To be a point of escalation for any complex people issues in the central operations with support from the People Team.
  • To ensure standards and compliance with laws and legislations are met in all departments.
  • To be fully flexible and cover any shortfalls of staffing in all operational departments, to ensure business continuity.
  • Overall responsibility and compliance for the vehicles within the whole Company including the compliance with changes in transport legislation.
  • Ensure all of the warehouse and logistics team are compliant and have the correct qualifications to carry out their duties.
  • Ensure any new starters are inducted and trained in line with our training plans.
  • Work closely with the warehouse manager around succession planning and upskilling our current team.
  • Work with the maintenance technician to ensure PPM and emergencies issues are all being resolved in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the distribution of products across the company 7 days per week.
  • Coordinate 'goods in' with the Procurement manager and other Central function areas.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring everyone adheres to the health and food safety and compliance set out in their departments.
  • To continuously review both volumes and quality of products being produced, packaged and distributed to stores.
  • Work closely with the production manager around succession planning and upskilling our current team.
  • Work with department managers to review and develop product quality and support in NPD projects.
  • Work closely with the roaster to review volumes and quality of products being produced, packaged and distributed to stores.
  • Ensure the compliance and health & safety of the department is being followed correctly.
  • Proven track record and understanding of managing large facilities.
  • A strong understanding of the health & safety and compliance needed for producing food products.
  • Ideally have a good understanding of Transport legislation ensuring the compliance of our drivers with our 7.5 tonne vehicles
  • Having a handson approach to management.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Available to work 5 out of 7 days a week based around the needs of the business.

£35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
